Sylva: Where the Mountains Meet the Arts

Sylva stacks up a hillside beneath its old courthouse, which is probably the most photographed building in Western North Carolina. Downtown is a short, dense run of breweries, coffee shops and independent stores with a real arts community behind it. Close to Western Carolina University and the Tuckasegee River, which means young energy and good water within a few minutes of each other.
